From Strength to Strength...

Since November of 2024 the Women and Friends of Nenagh (shed) have been going from strength to strength, we've hosted a security night with the Gardaí, and visited the Fire Station, had Chair Yoga, Zumba, Tai Chi and Meditation. We've been for walks around town, visited the Eco village in Cloughjordan, gone to two forum meetings, created our own Easter wreaths, Angel Gowns and Scrabble frames. We've Knitted with Pamela, and crocheted with Carmel. We've made sandwiches for and walked in the darkness into light, and supported various initiatives that the North Tipperary Developmental Company have come up with and one or two birthdays too boot.

The activities have kept our women engaged and feeling like they have a safe space to go to in between work and home for those who work, and a respite from home for those who don't. We truly believe that the Shed is beneficial to women's mental health and wellbeing. To that end, this year we are keeping the doors open all over the summer.

In most towns and cities the various groups and classes that have been operational all over the Autumn and Winter close and leave a lot of these ladies with no where to go. It is our belief that we fill a gap, and that we are necessary for their sanity. We aren't a women's refuge in the sense that we have rooms for them to stay if in trouble, but we are in the fact that we are a place they can come to in order to relax, and to be accepted for who they are, where they can do something creative, and not worry about being silly. For some it's a place to let their hair down and chill. What goes on in the shed basically stays in the shed, unless it's required that it doesn't.

In the future we are looking at a possible trip to Lough Gur and the nearby stone circle, a night bowling, picnic at Roscrea Monastery and up by the Castle. We're excited for what's to come and look forward to bringing more events to our Women.
